H.264/H.265 Video
H.264 Video Applications/Features
H.264 video applications can range from low-bit Internet video streaming to HDTV broadcasting. A key H.264 benefit is that it results in substantial bit-rate savings without any significant coding loss. Valuable H.264 features that enable efficient video compression include:
Ability to allow up to 16 reference frames
Variable block-size motion compensation (VBSMC) that enables high-precision segmentation of moving regions
Multiple motion vectors per macroblock capabilities
Flexible interlaced scan video coding
Virtually lossless macroblock coding capabilities
What Is H.265 Video?
H.265, also known as High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), is an upgrade of the H.264 standard. First published in 2013, a new H.265 version was released in early 2015. Specifically developed for 4K/Ultra HD broadcasting environments, H.265 video offers advanced compression capabilities while maintaining the high video quality provided by H.264. It also gives customers greater flexibility in video distribution in situations where bandwidth is limited.
H.264/H.265 Video Distribution Solutions From Z-Band
Z-Band offers state-of-the-art IP H.264 and H.265 video solutions featuring highly scalable, standards-based technology for encoding, decoding, storing, sending, and retrieving video over the WAN or LAN. Our H.264 solution features lightning-fast ultra-low latency and highly advanced decoding technology. It even has the capability to transcode video sources for fast and efficient delivery to mobile devices.
We also have an appliance encoder that can stream in H.265 for customers who work in an environment where bandwidth is limited. A typical example is a military installation where users need to distribute video from one part of the country to another. With H.265, you can now create 1080p60 video at 3Mbps. This provides the same high video quality, but at a significantly lower bandwidth. Alternately, you can maintain high bandwidth and improve the video quality by taking a 2Mbps video stream from 720 to 1080p60.
